I could get a MAIM emulator (infact ive probably got one) BUT it could look pretty cool in my room / the front room, especially for parties and such

That's what I meant when I said about making your own. Although I was referring to actually connecting up the cab style joysticks and buttons too, which is what will take a lot of effort. I guess you could skip that and just run some controller cables through the joystick holes..?

nah, you can buy kits to convert a pc into a cab with the proper joysticks and the buttons
