Monkey Island 5???
This is manily for Mr. Wilson to see.
Wikipedia wrote:In 2002, LucasArts public relations manager Tom Sarris stated that "they are definitely going to make Monkey Island 5 since it is their most popular franchise. However, we shouldn't expect it in the near future." Later in 2006, LucasArts director Jim Ward jokingly added that he will make the fifth game in 2015.
Re: Monkey Island 5???
Monkey Island 5, that would imply some kind of Monkey Island 4.
There is no Monkey Island 4, if anyone makes any comments to the contrary I will hunt you down and make you an unperson.
But Monkey Island was an awesome trillogy and I long for a fourth game.

"shouldn't expect it in the near future", "2015" ...face it, the Monkey Island franchise is dead. Adventure games have no market these days since all people want to do is shoot at stuff with little to no logic.
This is the reason Sam & Max were pulled by Lucasarts. Sure, Telltale Games went ahead and continued it but I doubt that it was that popular, perhaps only being saved by Steam as I doubt many shops will stock it.
Even if they did decide that in 7 years they want to release another Monkey Island they'd look for a way of doing it that'd involve the latest technology. People like Matt would spit at Curse of Monkey Island for it's "shitty" graphics forcing them to go all 3D and create the abortion that was "Escape From..."

Re: Monkey Island 5???
Just out of interest has anyone played any of the new Sam & Max games?
I played one of the free episodes on steam and seemed pretty good. But then again ive not really played any adventure games so as adventure games go it could be pretty piss poor

Re: Monkey Island 5???
I downloaded the first season of the new Sam and Max games. Only got through episodes 1 and 2 so far though. Yeah, they're pretty good but obviously it's an episodic game so they're quite short and that's what bothers me the most.
They do retain the humour though, and most adventure games turned out piss-poor when the humour wasn't present. That's why Monkey Island and the original Sam and Max (back when it was on Lucasarts) did so well.
In conclusion: it's worth a download, but I wouldn't pay. But then I don't pay for anything. EVER.

Re: Monkey Island 5???
one game i found amazing was grim fandango. possible best adventure game i played, and a really really old game toonstruck, had the professor from back to the future doing live action acting in a toon world, was really really funny and random

Re: Monkey Island 5???
The live action of Toonstruck was it's only redeeming feature. As an adventure game it was quite poor. Grim Fandango was pretty good but on the dying end of Lucasarts, when they decided Star Wars was the only way forward. It was also the engine that made the bastard version of Monkey Island. Boo to that.
None of you are hardcore adventure gamers until you play the Myst series. The first is simple enough and pulls you into it, but the rest are just insanely difficult.

Re: Monkey Island 5???
the insane difficulty is the main thing which put my off a lot of adventure games ive played.
A lot of the time im sitting there going "how the hell was i suppost to know that i was suppost to know to rub the plastic budgie against the calender to make the cheese fall down, so that i can now talk to the clock?!?"
P.S. I finished that Sam & Max episode. I thought it was pretty good helped a lot by the fact it was really funny, but it was wayyy to short

Re: Monkey Island 5???
I object, Myst III was not a game, it was a disgusting abomination that should be overwritten in history.
