I wanted to learn to play piano, so I bought myself a keyboard and never got around to it.

Then I wanted to play guitar, so I bought myself one of those...and never got around to it.

I'll tell you what I did when I first started to play. I used to take the top bit off, the bit with just the reed in, and follow my brothers around blowing down it, purely for the annoying loud squeaky sound.

You should suggest that to your brother.

I also suggest he moves onto Sax because it's more fun and less people play them for some reason.

not many people play sax because its one of the most overly complicated instruments to play.

Watch, or even just simply listen to, Muse and tell me bass is the coolest instrument. He is the dullest musician I have ever seen and seemingly does fuck all to the music. Seems that in most band situations bass is simply overlooked, unless you're someone like Jamie T or Primus and then it's a matter of...

"I'm the singer, and I play bass. ALL songs will have impressive bass, you guys play backup for a change."

He doesn't say how well he can play them. Maybe we just get a bunch of "Three Blind Mice" in different instrumental forms.

And yes, I am aware that bass adds to an overall song, I'm just saying that it's normally not the most impressive part.

Depends on what you want to listen to..

Bass stuff tends to more rock/ metal etc

where as the guitar is normally chillout with a bit of acoustic rock/ alternative (depends on how i feel)

I play a Epiphone Les Paul Standard with white Emg 81-85
A Cort XTH also equiped with a Emg 81-85 sett (acctually a pretty awsome guitar for the price).

I have a Vox 30w valvetronix
For distortion i use either a Boss Metal Zone or a Boss Metalcore
I also have a Boss Cromatic tuner (which is fun to play with from time to time).
Also use a 1.14 jim dunlop tortex guitar pick. Very Happy

Ive played for about 4 years, play mostly metal and play in a Deathcore/metalcore/death/god only knows band.
